The Sixties were all about revolution ΓÇö flares, free love and flower power and the
Mini was no exception. The Mini tore up the car makerΓÇÖs rule book. Initially the Mini was given a shocked and bemused reception amongst the traditional car buying public and sales were slow. However, the rebellious nature of the sixties turned that around and the Mini was quickly seen in all the fashionable areas of London with pop stars, actors and fashion designers fighting to own one.
The Austin Se7en became known as the Austin Mini in 1962 and 3 years after the launch on the 12th December the 500,000th Mini was produced.
Total sales passed the million mark in 1965.
As Neil Armstrong reached the moon, Mini sales also rocketed hitting the 2
